Wall Street Journal Weekend Edition

By JLP | September 17, 2005

Today was the first day of the Wall Street Journal Weekend Edition. The new edition is “free” to subscribers (however, the subscription price went up to $215 per year and WSJ Online is now $49 per year for subscribers of the print edition). Overall, I think it is going to be a nice addition to the weekend.

It is broken down into the three sections: The Main section, Money & Investing, and Pursuits. The Main section is pretty much like the main section of the daily edition with it’s What’s New section on the front page and editorials on the last two pages.

The Money & Investing section summarizes Friday’s closing information but with a focus more on personal finance. Today’s edition features a story on how to hedge the value of your home.

Pursuits is pretty much like Friday’s Weekend section with book and music reviews and other nonbusiness related topics. I liked the piece highlighting Wynton Marsalis’ favorite jazz CDs – surprisingly, I don’t own any of them.

the piece about walmart was pretty interesting.

and the one about cash back credit card was a good reminder.

the increase in price, not so cool.
