H & R Block Tax Class
By JLP | October 24, 2005
Hurricane Rita totally screwed up my tax class schedule. In order to make up the missed time, we have to go on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9 AM – 12PM. We also have class on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. So, I’m going to be very busy for the next few weeks.
I do have to say that this class has been interesting (once we got past filing status, dependency tests, and credits!). Today we talked a little about IRAs, which I’ll try to summarize in another post. Tomorrow we will talk about education tax benefits.
If you have any interest in this sort of stuff, I highly recommend you take this class next year. I was able to sign up and get two classes for the price of one. However, I signed up through one of their preparers, so I don’t know if that rate is available to everyone or not. As soon as I know more, I’ll let you know.
One thing I’d like to mention about H & R Block is that they make you do the class by hand. You have to actually fill out all the information on the tax forms by hand. It stinks but the reason they do that is so that you actually UNDERSTAND why you are doing what you are doing. When you do it on the computer, the “why” isn’t always clear.
