Around the Blogosphere in 30 Seconds

By JLP | January 6, 2006

(If you can read fast enough!)

Well, it’s Friday and that means it is time to wrap up the week in posts. I don’t have time to mention every great post out there. However, here are some of my favorites from the past week:

Hard to believe it is tax time again. Yeah, sure we have four months until taxes are due. However, now is the time to be thinking about your 2007 taxes. Jim at Blueprint has a great post Taxes Should Affect Your Stock Decisions. To avoid all that, set up a Roth IRA.

Flexo at ConsumerismCommentary talks about his Retirement Investment Changes, which is a follow-up to a post about his Investment Holdings.

FreeMoneyFinance posted Step 6 of his series How to Get Your Blog to 100,000 Visitors and Beyond. This is information I wish I would have had when I first started blogging. Although, when you add my old blog’s traffic to this blog’s traffic, I’m not doing so bad. Personally, I think the key to FMF’s success has been the fact that he posts 385 times per day (reminds me of Instapundit). I call him a Blogging Horse.

One of the really awesome things about blogging is the sharing of personal stories so that hopefully people can learn from shared experiences. For instance, Nickel has written a couple of posts about his problems with PayPal. Check out Filing a PayPal Buyer’s Complaint and the follow-up PayPal Buyer’s Complaint Resolved.

Finally, Jonathan at MyMoneyBlog warns us to Be Wary Of Tricky Credit Card Offers. I have to say that I agree with him. The credit card offers I have received lately are very very confusing. The stated APR really isn’t what you think it is because there are usually strings attached. I hate the cards that want you to make monthly purchases on the card. Credit card companies do that because if you do a balance transfer to that card, and purchases you make won’t be paid off UNTIL the balance transfer is paid off. Therefore, your purchases continue to accumulate interest. NOT A GOOD DEAL.

There’s lots more good posts out there but this will keep you busy for more than 30 seconds!
