RarelyRight on Joel Greenblatt
By JLP | January 10, 2006
I was just on RarelyRight’s blog and found three really good posts about Joel Greenblatt’s The Little Book That Beats the Market. You can read them here, here, and here.
In regard to the his last post titled So Why Write a Book?, I have to say I have wondered the same thing. Everyone knows that information that EVERYONE else has, isn’t really useful – especially when it comes to investing.
I have not yet read the book other than the little bit I read through at the bookstore. What I did read was interesting.

I read Joel Greenblatt’s book and tried to calculate Earnings Yield and Return on Capital in accordance with the formula in the book using Yahoo Finance’s financials. No luck. Has anyone successfully calculated these, and would they mind sharing with me so I can see where I’m going wrong?
