Can Man Live on Contributions Alone?

Jason Kottke of Kottke.org reflects on a year in which he derived income solely from donations. I didn’t read enough to find out why he took the donation page down in September. It seems to me if he was running an experiment he would have left the donation page up throughout the entire year.
