Don’t be a Victim

By JLP | March 1, 2006

Jonathan at MyMoneyBlog has written an interesting post titled Don’t Be aVictim. I’m always impressed with the level of quality comments that Jonathan receives. If you scroll down far enough, you can see the comment I left.

I agree with Jonathan. Yes, there are legitimate times when a person is a victim of circumstances. However, I would bet that most of the time people are in their current position because of choices they have made. My number one goal as a parent is to teach my kids how to make wise decisions. The smarter the decision, the more likely a positive outcome will follow.

I agree with Johathan and with you also. It reminds me of my contention that essentially all traffic accidents can be boiled down to two factors, inattentiveness or impatience. Inattentiveness meaning that people aren’t paying attention to their driving because of alcohol, drugs, cell phones, squalling kids in the back seat, and so on. Impatience meaning running red lights, speeding, cutting people off, driving too fast for conditions, etc.

    Well, I can see a connection . . .
