Update for Everyone

By JLP | March 25, 2006

I learned one thing these last couple of days: I have A LOT of FRIENDS! I am amazed at all the kind comments and private emails I have received since I announced my blog problem yesterday. Thanks to everyone!

I have a new blog name picked out should I have to make a change. I’m not ready to say what it is yet but I can tell you that it won’t be AllThingsFiscal. I hate that name and I don’t think most people would even know what “fiscal” means. When I told my mom the name “AllThingsFiscal” over the phone, she thought I said “AllThingsPhysical,” (sounds like a totally different type of blog, doesn’t it?). That told me right there that I had picked the wrong name!

Anyway, I have my brother-in-law looking into this right now to see what my options are. I’ll keep everyone posted. BLOGGERS: do not make any changes yet. I’ll either make a post when I’m ready or I’ll send you an email.

Stay tuned…

PS – SmartMoneyDaily better watch out!

    Trainwreck,

LOL! Nah, I was thinking about BigTrainwreck.com. Do you like it?

JLP, get a lawyer if you have to! I think your blog is differentiated enough from their site…which is all you need in order to keep the name. Good luck!

JLP, I have had some time to look at this for you. Let’s talk Sunday.

I think what that company did was BRILLIANT! After all, if I were a company who identified an Internet personality who was read, listened to, and respected by hundreds of the most financially inquisitive people in my potential customer base, (and who would be being read by thousands more new members of that customer base within the next few days) the very FIRST thing I would do was adopt a hostile, threatening, bullying tone toward the person. If I had any sense, I would realize that that letter would be read by ALL THOSE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS! And I would be THRILLED that this would by the first impression all these customers would have of me!

    GENIUS! Pure GENIUS!

Hope everything works out well for you JLP. If I can offer any assistance let me know.

I actually tried to write to SmartMoney.com before I started my site to find out if they felt the name was stepping on their toes…but I never received a reply.

Recently though, for that reason and others I decided to mothball SmartMoneyDaily.com and started a new site.
