More on the New Name

Hopefully within the next couple of days, this blog will have a new name and everything will be switched over. I’m expecting a drop in traffic due to the change. However, in the long run, things will be fine. Everything will basically stay the same except I’ll have a new name.

I expect that the blog will be down some during the transition but DON’T WORRY, I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!

Oh, and for those of you who have been wondering about the new name, I have registered (drum roll please)…

Honestly, what do you think? Although I don’t like it as well as the old name, it is starting to grow on me. I also like the fact that I don’t have to have the word “blog” thrown in.

BLOGGERS: Please don’t make any changes yet. I’ll let you know when I’m ready for you to start using the new name and URL.

  1. If you have any ability to do redirects from your old domain to your new ones, that would be good. Let me know if you need any help with that, although I would bet Flexo knows more than me. Good luck!

  2. Also, I have some experience transfering WordPress blogs from the MySQL database files, if you need it. It actually was pretty easy in my experience, but it was a much smaller blog.

  3. hmm. i like it. its not so bad.

not having blog isnt a big deal IMO, shorter the url, the easier to remember, the better.

  4. I HATE it.

Just joshin’. During this stressful time for you, I thought there was no better time to pile on. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. Jim & FMF,

You both are SUCH GOOD FRIENDS!

Believe me, a huge part of me wanted to keep this going (probably out of stupidity). The part in their letter where they “demanded” I do this or I do that was what really ticked me off.

I don’t like the new name as well as the old name, but I’ll get used to it.

  6. Hi JLP:

I always thought that your “All Things Financial” nom de plume had a nice “rhyme” with NPR’s radio news moniker “All Things Considered”, which is probably why, I for one, found your blog name to be easily remembered. Given the circumstances, “All Financial Matters” works for me.

  7. Have you searched for possible trademark/servicemark overlaps with the new name? You *really* don’t want to end up going through this all over again the next time you get mentioned in a major publication!

  8. Good luck with the change. I’m toying with getting rid of “blog” in my title too. It’s become an extraneous word. Mine’s just not as focused as yours yet though, so I’ve put it off ๐Ÿ™‚
