ma.gnolia is Better Than del.icio.us!

By JLP | April 1, 2006

Does the world need another social bookmarking site? In this case, I say “yes.” The new site I am referring to is ma.gnolia.com. Personally, I like it MUCH better than del.icio.us. Why?

1. It’s much cleaner-looking. Del.icio.us is too cluttered. To view my tags, click here (I don’t have a lot of tags yet).

2. I can insert SPACES in tags! This is awesome! No more tags that look like this: personalfinance or personal_finance.

3. Groups are easy to put together. I formed a group called PFBloggers. It is a moderated group but I will be happy to add your name if you want. Just let me know. As a member of the PFBloggers group, you will be able to submit tags for things that are related to personal finance.

Of course the downside to ma.gnolia is that it is new and is not generating a lot of traffic. However, I have a feeling that that is going to change!

Anyway, go there and check it out. I think you will like it too!

Wow, I totally discounted ma.gnolia when it first popped up, but I like its look and feel much more than del.icio.us.

I’m still working on my new site, but I’m throwing in ma.gnolia links, and I’d love to join the PFBloggers group.

It looks nice I guess. I just don’t really want to switch from Delicious at this point. How many social bookmark sites do we need?

    RS,

I hear ya. However, if you like ma.gnolia better, they have an import feature so that you can move your del.icio.us tags.

Looks like good competition for del.icio.us. I personally hate the fact that you cannot make links private in del.icio.us, but you can in ma.gnolia. I do not use these social bookmarking tools for the social aspect, I use them for my own bookmarking aspect so I can access my bookmarks anywhere in the world…without everyone else seeing them.
