My Worst Job Ever
By JLP | May 8, 2006
Nickel is asking fellow bloggers for their worst job ever to add to his own “Worst Job Ever” post. Here’s mine:
When I was 15 years old, I had a job at a drive-in restaurant similar to Sonic (actually it was where a Sonic used to be). I was a cook and I HATED every FREAKIN’ minute of that job! From the time I got to work until the time I left work, all I did was cook and clean. I was on the closing shift so it was my job to wash everything. The place was so greasy that I could actually feel it on my skin.
One night, the dorky manager sent everyone home except him and me. We were the only two there. Well, 8:00 pm came and something like 10 cars showed up all at the same time! I was cooking orders, putting them together, and RUNNING them out to the cars. I would be willing to bet that I got some stuff wrong that night!
I stayed at that job until my family went on vacation and I went with them. When we got back home, I found out that the place had caught on fire and that they shut it down. Whew! YIPPY!
A few days later, I got a call from the local police department asking me lots of questions about the fire. It turns out that the owners caught the place on fire on purpose in order to get the insurance money.
That was my worst job ever.

I worked one summer as a helper to my uncle, who was an interstate furniture hauler. I got to see truck stops and warehouses from Seattle to St. Petersburg, and became familiar with an extensive variety of crawly many-legged critters. Also, I almost croaked in a place called Stuttgart, AK due to heat exhaustion while carrying an old lady’s barber chair.
The job lit a fire under me to quit horsing around in high school and get into a good university so I didn’t have to do that sort of thing…

That’s pretty bad! The grease factor would have grossed me out!
