Another Possible Savings Alternative

By JLP | May 9, 2006

I just read about Heritage Bank’s Direct Savings Account in this article in the Contra Costa Times. The Direct Savings Account has a 4.72% APY. The minimum initial deposit is $1,000.

One thing going against this particular institution is the fact that I have never heard of them until I read the above mentioned article. However, I’m sure people in Minnesota are familiar with Heritage Bank, whose parent company is Heritage Bancshares Group, Inc.

Anyway, I just wanted to mention them and to find out if anyone currently has an account with them.

I see the lovely little FDIC logo on their page, but there’s no direct indication in their disclosure as to whether this type of account is FDIC insured.
