I Want One of These, I Just Don’t Want to Pay for it!
By JLP | May 12, 2006
Being the stock market/investing nut that I am, I have wanted to purchase a copy of Ibbotson’s 2006 edition of the Stocks, Bonds, Bills, and Inflation Yearbook. The book sounds like a gold mine of investing stats and other interesting stuff that only a person like myself would enjoy.
The reason I haven’t ever ordered one of these books is the $120 price tag. I just don’t know if it is worth it or not. Well, tonight I almost ordered a copy but when I got to the shipping page, I found out that it would cost $12.50 for STANDARD shipping! That’s a 10% fee for shipping. Oh well, maybe some other day (unless one of you fine readers wants to buy it for me!).

Have you checked your library’s reference section? They’ll probably have an older copy that you can use to decide whether it’s worth purchasing (or not). Or Amazon has it for free shipping if you’re willing to wait 4-6 weeks

I’ll let you have mine when I’m done with it…next year. (Sorry).

I’d recommend the library. They can special order it for you for free or a nominal amount. I’m not sure about the details of copywrite law, but you may be allowed to photocopy a few pages for your personal academic use.
Incidentally, what’s so exciting about the book? I think they were the ones who did the driving research into asset class diversification, but that’s old hat, what does the book discuss?

If you pay yourself $2 for 66 days you will be able to afford it. Just a suggestion.
