100% agreed, the USPS tracking is a joke. I have tried it a couple of times, and there is no update until several days after the delivery has been made.

Completely useless "me too" gimmick.

that reminds me of their signature confirmation service. i sent my dad a birthday present via this service to be sure he got it (handmade present). online, it took a while (days after the fact) to actually be able to see the signature graphic, well after delivery. when i was finally able to view it, guess what? it was NOT his signature! (i grew up knowing exactly what it looks like) did the delivery person forge it? he did get the package though so maybe it does work, although the confidence i had in the service definitely shrunk. i wondered if my attempt to view it (/receive by email) spurred someone into action to show some sort of signature.....

The USPS offers Delivery Confirmation, it is not intended for tracking purposes . It is only scanned at acceptance of the package and when it is delivered. That is why they call it "Delivery Confirmation". If tracking is needed, then use registered mail or Express Delivery where the package is scanned throughout the delivery.

"Verify delivery with Delivery Confirmation. Our low cost Delivery Confirmation service gives you the date, ZIP Code and the time your article was delivered. If delivery was attempted you will get the date and time of attempted delivery. You can easily access this information with our Track & Confirm tool."
