Sam,

Electrical wasn't listed as one of the "hot" fields. However, this was a Houston Chronicle article and may only reflect local job demand.

Vlad, JLP,

The Quebec departement of Emploi et solidérité sociale just published their job's outlook for jobs between 2006-2009. Chemical and civil engineering are way up with medical staff.

Seems that the whole continent is going in the same direction.

Vlad,

Yes, I'm sure it biased to Houston. Most of the chemical engineering jobs are located in Texas and California, I believe.

Hmmm ... sounds like the story is biased towards the Houston market. Most other publications I read do include Chemical engineers, but not Civil or Aeronautical. Medical professions also are topping most lists, along with outsourcing-resistant IT jobs.

This is not just geed news if you possess a degree in these fields, for investers, the fact that the "hottest" jobs in the future will be related to chemical engineering, and hi-tech gives us a bit of a "leg up" as to what will be the big industries of the nex twenty years or so.
