Weekly Roundup Time!
By JLP | June 16, 2006
Last week when I tried to do a Weekly Roundup, I got the round up all finished and hit the “publish” button and was locked out of my blog for over an hour. To top it off, my round up didn’t get published! I don’t know if you guys know this or not, but blog postings with lots of links take a lot of time to put together. So, let’s try it again:
Flexo shows us how to get paid for giving up our seat on an airline flight. This is good information to have if you fly a lot.
Nickel is looking for guest bloggers while he is away on vacation.
FMF wonders if extended warranties are worth the cost. My thought is NO THEY ARE NOT in most cases. They are HUGE money-makers for the retailers. When I bought my laptop at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago, the guy asked me if I wanted the extended warranty, which was $359. The laptop itself was a little over $1,000. So, they wanted me to spend an additional 1/4 to 1/3 of the price of the computer on a warranty. I declined. The guy looked like he was about to cry, which tells me that the employees must make a pretty nice commission on warranty sales.
MightyBargainHunter warns us about fake second-chance offers from eBay auctions.
Jim talks about how real estate pigs are getting slaughtered. With any asset, if you buy at the wrong time and pay too much, there’s a good chance that you are going to pay.
Other Cool Stuff…
TheBudgetingBabe talked with her friends to find out what is on their minds (financially-speaking).
Ricemutt is remembering Mr. Market.
TheFamilyCEO likes Mary Hunt’s Live Your Life for Half the Price.
Kim at Kimmunications tells her readers to spend less than they earn. Makes sense to me.
Finally, Cap over at StopBuyingCrap has an interesting post about government-sponsored financial education. Should we listen to the government?
