Weird Things Going on With Technorati
By JLP | August 1, 2006
I check my Technorati stats frequently. Lately, I have been noticing stuff like this:
NONE of those sites listed are actually linked to AllFinancialMatters. Therefore, how in the heck are they showing up as linked to me? I’m thinking that it is some sort of glitch with Technorati because these weird sites don’t always show up. I know that they have been making a lot of changes lately.
Have any of you bloggers had any problems with Technorati lately?

I’ve had the same problems as a matter of fact.

Yep, definitely weird things going on. Sometimes it doesn’t even see my site. No response to my tech support query either.

I was only just thinking about blogging about this, but you beat me to it. I hope it’s just a glitch (it has been going on for a couple of weeks though), and hope these sites haven’t worked out how to spam technorati.

It’s a new problem Technorati seems to be having all around. I’ve been experiencing it myself lately. But I think I read somewhere that they’re working on it.

I’ve had the same problems across the board. It seems to clean itself up every few days only to start again.

I agree with thatedeguy. It seems to get fixed, and then mess up again.
However, I notice that it does pick up on stuff that blogrolls me briefly and then rotates, i.e. DC Bloggers. I will get a Technorati link and then get dropped from the site, but the link is gone from the site and only a revolving DC Bloggers blogroll remains.
Don’t ask why I get foreign sites linked though. That’s happened too. Per Technorati, no one links to my blog, and yet I’m ranked in the mid-70K’s. Dunno. Weird stuff.

I noticed that last night, too. You mean those hip kids at MySpace aren’t spending hours upon hours visiting PF blogs and talking about how to save and increase their assets? Drat!

I duno I’ve ignored Technorati since.. forever?
Is it that useful? I mainly just browse the top 100 occasionally to see whats going on on the web.
