Forbes’ Best States for Business List
By JLP | August 17, 2006
The 2006 Forbes Best States for Business list is out. Guess which state is Number 1? Virginia. Texas is Number 2! The worst state is Louisianna (big surprise there). You can see the complete list here. Kansas, my old home state is Number 21. Finally, not surprisingly Illinois, home of Chicago and it’s minimum wage silliness, is Number 44.

Wow- I fully expected to see AZ closer to the top- and certainly higher than freaking Washington! I love that state- but I moved back to AZ specifically for the real estate and business climate.

JLP, you may be able to answer this. Whatever happened to the “smart” tax increase proposed by our “great” Governor in which he wanted to lower property taxes for citizens, but raise taxes for business? If that passed, and this survey takes it into account, I’d be surprised to find us still at #2. Taxes on business always end up as taxes on citizens, anyway … what demagogery.

Vlad,
I don’t know what happened to that idea. It was stupid. I like Perry but he really messed up on that one.
