Its 2007 and the hurricane season has justed started. Our insurance company has not settled on the 2004 hurricane damage claims and they dropped us. Private insurance is not avaiable from the major insurers and the smaller, lesser known companies may not have the resources to pay claims. In Florida, the state has formed a company that must charge the highest rates and requires payment of the entire premium up front. The lack of affordable available hurrican insurance is the financial achilles heel of the entire south.
