Kira’s H&R Block Tax Course Journey

By JLP | September 13, 2006

I was checking out Kira’s PennyFoolish blog and noticed that she is taking H&R Block’s Tax Course this year. I can’t believe that it was a year ago when I started that course. Time truly does fly! I’m not taking the course this year because I don’t think I need a refresher and I don’t desire to work for Block.

Speaking of taxes…

I received Publication 590 from the IRS yesterday. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago. For those of you who do not know, you can order the hard copy versions of all the IRS publications. They take 7-15 days to arrive, but they are free. I know I’m a nerd, but I think Publication 590 is very interesting reading! There’s nothing like curling up with a cup of coffee and a good IRS Publication for an evening of reading pleasure.

If you take the course you basically learn how to do other people’s taxes?

Off topic – what bookmarking plugin are you using? I like your little links.

Yes, they are teaching you basically enough taxes to fill out most everything. And even though if you work for them you will use a computer, apparently we will only use paper forms in class. (I suspect this is because all the computers are in storage or something.) You can take even more classes for topics they don’t dwell much on.
