Hi Emily,

You can also will part or all of your life insurance policy to a charity of your choice..if your sister doesn't need the money, there's no lack of reputable charities that do!

Hi Emily - I work for a life insurance broker. My agents would tell you if you don't have anyone that depends on you financially then you really don't need life insurance. However, keep in mind that as we age, life insurance gets more expensive. So let's say in 3 years you get married and you want to buy a policy so your husband is covered if something were to happen to you. You will be paying more for the policy than what you're currently paying today. Just something to think about as you're making your decision as to whether or not you should cancel your policy.

Also I wanted to let everyone know that September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. So if you know someone that has someone that depends on them financially, please remind them of the importance of life insurance.

I don't understand the importance of life insurance at all. I am a 43 yo single woman with no children. Out of superstition I pay monthly for a term life insurance policy. My sister is on the policy in case I die. She is a very wealthy woman already. Do I really need 500k term life insurance?
