Way OT: Fantasy Football
By JLP | October 5, 2006
Are any of you Fantasy Footballers? This is the first year I have ever messed around with it. It’s kind of fun but I don’t spend too much time on it. I did update my roster for this week. Here’s what my team looks like for those of you who are interested:
Yeah, yeah, I’m a Raiders fan. Fortunately my fantasy team is doing much better than my real team!

I can’t get enough fantasy football. It really makes the games more exciting and crucial. And one more thing, get aaron brooks out of Oakland! nuff said

Big fan here. We play every year at work, and I have won the superbowl the last two years. This year hasn’t started out quite as well, however.

I’ve played fantasy football for almost two decades. I formed my first league in 1989, while a junior in college. It’s been going non-stop ever since. For a long time, I was the Buffalo Bills of the league: always made it to the championship game but could never win it. Last year was my best year ever, but I lost in the first round of the playoffs. This year my team just plain sucks. My league is here. I am the woeful Canby Cougars.
My league is very different than most. I strive to create rules that generate realistic scores. I also allow a large number of keepers from one year to the next. The league has very little turnover. This is the third consecutive year with the same sixteen owners. I think we’ve had five new owners in a decade. That’s pretty amazing…

I love fantasy sports but can’t always get my friends to get interested. Like me, most of them follow college football much more than pro ball. Still – I just find it exciting, but only when I know the people against whom I am playing. (Go Tom Brady!)
I also got involved in fantasy Hockey this year since my group of friends are much bigger Hockey fans… it happens when you grow up in Michigan.
