It’s hard to believe that it is already time to start thinking about next year, but it is! Ellen McGirt at Fortune wrote a great story titled Eight Great Year-End Moves that appeared in the October 16, 2006 issue. Here are the links to her eight suggestions:
3. Sock it away
4. Give smarter
6. Clean up your taxable account
7. Do a property insurance checkup
8. Check the new credits and taxes

A couple others for the self-employed:
o Finish funding the “employee part” of your SE401K if you aren’t incorporated by the end of the calendar year. If you’re working as a corp, do the tax calculations needed to fund both the “employer part” and “employee part” by the end of your fiscal year.
o Make sure you’re going to hit the “safe harbor” for tax withholding if you do the “withhold to safe harbor and pay difference” tax strategy.
