Choosing Who Can See What on Your Blog

By JLP | November 22, 2006

Here’s a little something for those of you who would like to start a blog but worry about privacy. It’s a Walter Mossberg review of a new free blogging service called Vox. The privacy features aren’t the only thing Walter likes:

Vox also excels at making it easy to add photos, audio, videos and book links to your blog without any prior expertise. It lets you incorporate content from Web sites like YouTube, Amazon and photo-sharing site Flickr in only a couple of steps. Viewing of each multimedia element can also be restricted to people you choose. Vox is supported by ads that aren’t intrusive or distracting.

I bet if this is successful Blogger will make some changes with their next upgrade (or they may have already as I don’t use Blogger too much anymore).

I honestly believe that security controls or not, if you post something on the net, ya gotta be prepared for the world to see it.

I agree with Kim. I have a vox account which I don’t use, but seriously, anything online can be subject to public display, since both bots and jilted friends can override your best attempts at keeping things secret. So think twice before uploading (or heck, even making) any sex tapes.
