I Need Some Recommendations

By JLP | November 27, 2006

I’m looking for some CD/DVD burning software. Any recommendations?

The reason I’m asking this is that I have been reading reviews for both Nero’s and Roxio’s products on Amazon. The frustrating thing about customer reviews is that one person says the product is great and the next totally trashes it. HOw can two people buy the same product and have such differing views of it?

What’s sad is that I had a decent software program (it was one the early editions of Easy CD Creator back when it was made by Adaptec) on my old desktop but I can’t figure out how to move it to my laptop. I found the original recovery disks along with the original applications for the old desktop but they won’t let me open the disk from my laptop.

Do you guys have any suggestions?

I’m a big fan of Nero. I used to use Roxio’s back in the day, but used to get a lot of coasters. I don’t know if the software has changed, or the burners, probably both…but for the past few years I’ve been using Nero and have had great results.

use nero. you cant go wrong with it for basic and advanced usage. Nerds will trash nero but its great software.

    Mark & efipo,

Thanks! That’s two votes for Nero. Now, which version do you recommend?

I recommend Nero. I’ve been using their software for years. I also use Sony’s DVD Architect for authoring DVDs (and Vegas for video editing) but I hardly do that these days.

Not Nero. Not Roxio. DeepBurner is my choice.

Nero. Been using nero for years, both for CDs and DVDs. It is fantastic. I use some other freeware burning software as well for odd jobs, but nero is a great all-round burning program.

Bought computer with Roxio on it. Thought it was the greatest (never had anything like that before). Computer had to be redone and friend put in Nero for me. Easy to use (click and drag) and it was so much faster than Roxio. NERO definately !!!!!!!!

    It doesn’t matter. Really.

I have both on my computer right now. The free versions that come with PCs leave something to be desired in ease of use and advanced features.

The full version of both can do all the burning and loading different formats you want.

If you want to do something other than burn a bunch of data to the disks please clarify and there may be some minor differences.

Really it is not likely to matter.

    I like Click ‘N Burn: http://www.download.com/Click-N-Burn-CD-DVD/3000-2646_4-10461707.html

It’s free and works well for me. If you need more features and/or want a commercial product, go with Nero.

I’ve been using Nero for years and when my parents got their computer it came with Nero. Now my dad who’s not all that computer savy won’t even try another application. It’s simple yet powerful.

I use Nero on my computers at home and Roxio at work. I prefer Nero by far.

I love Nero! It’s easy to use for both the computer illiterate and the tech savvy.

For what it’s worth, Nero is my choice too. My “computer guy” recommends it and he installed it on my machine. Works like a charm.

I use CDBurner XP Pro – it’s great, I’ve never had a problem with it. I installed it on all of my families computers and they were able to use without any trouble and without asking me for help – which is a joy for me. It can be found at
