Like you, I didn't want to deal with unplugging and constantly plugging one in. So, I hopped on ebay and found one for around 20 bucks. It wasn't an exact replica of the original power supply, but it worked great and cost a fraction of the original price. So I would check online before spending big money on a new power supply, I'm sure you can find something for a very affordable price. Check ebay for a second power supply. My expansion base from HP (a different model) just has a regular 3-prong cord that goes into the wall/surge protector.
