JLP’s Question(s) of the Day – The Super Bowl
By JLP | February 5, 2007
Here’s today’s Question(s) of the Day:
I watched the game and was happy to see the Colts win. I like the Colts (although the Raiders are my favorite team). I don’t mind the Bears but I thought they were overrated (don’t tell my brother-in-law I said that!). As far as the commercials go, I didn’t really have a favorite. In fact, I didn’t really care for any of them.
What about you?

I watched parts of the 1st and 2nd quarter and don’t remember many of the ads. One about connectile dysfunction and one about tearing off chest hair. Oh, and a dirty dog on a parade float. That’s about it.

I enjoyed the commercial about the Blockbuster rental program (similar to Netflix).
Yes, watched the bowl. Grossman is terrible!

I enjoyed the Coke commercial spoofing the Grand Theft Auto video game.

I watched the game. However, I was getting some writing done on my laptop during the commercials. And I’m such a bad consumer that I’m running Linux and OpenOffice, not Windows and Office.

We kind of sort of watch the game- we kept the sound on mute and played games with our roommate and listened to music. When the ads would come on one of us would jump up to turn off the music and turn the TV sound on. I find it funny that we do this, because any other time we try to ignore the commercials. I was not too excited over most of the ads. My favorite was the Bud one where the guy wants to pick up the hitchhiker with an ax. “He has an AX!…Yeah, but he has Bud!”

Watched a crappy game after the first quarter. Although, I did enjoy the commercial with the rabbit, hamster and a mouse that was being used like a computer mouse – without success. I especially like the part where the hamster told the rabbit to slide the mouse back and forth. It still doesn’t work so he tells him “faster”.
Still makes me smile.

The game was fun in a train wreck sort of way. The ads pretty much completely sucked; far too much twenty-something “creativity”, metrosexual nonsense, and insidery silliness. It was like watching short subject entries for some obscure art-house film award, not commercials that actually are interesting.
Bring back the Bud Bowl and the Swedish Bikini Team!

Watched the game and very happy the Colts won. As for the commercials, there was very little to be excited about. As mentioned, most brought no competition to the best SB commercial and a number of them had been released prior to the SB (what’s up with that?) I would probably say my favorite was the Bud Light ax murderer followed by the Bud crabs.

I was rooting for the Bears, but I was also glad to see Peyton get rid of the monkey. I thought the Coke commercials (video game, and happiness machine) were pretty good, as well as the fist bump commercial. I fell out of my chair when the Sierra Mist Beard Comb-over commercial came on. I work with an older, balding fellow, and for years we’ve been joking about him doing a beard comb-over. Who’da thunkit woulda made a Super Bowl Commercial?

Good to see Payton win a superbowl. Loved the game in the rain. Halftime with Prince was amazing to play in rain like he did.
Funny Commercial: GO Daddy
watched 1st 2nd Halftime and 4th qtr.
Good game
Cheers

Yup – I liked the halftime show, and would have liked Godaddy’s commercials better if they weren’t the kingpin of spammer domains.
The nice, simple 20 minute Prince concert worked better than anything they’ve done in years, and logistically worked out well. (What? No wardrobe malfunctions?) Anything more complicated would have probably shorted out and gotten someone hurt in all that rain…

Watched the whole game and I liked to see the Colts win as well. Even though the kick-off return in the beginning really scared me
Which ads I liked? We were lucky, here in Germany they didn’t broadcast the ads.
Unfortunately during the breaks two absolutely clueless people (including ex-Tennis star Boris Becker) tried to talk analysis about the game, but it was fun anyways!

Of course I watch my Bears play a miserable game – although, those first few seconds were exciting!
My fave commercial was the Bud Light one where they decide that “slapping” is the new “knocking rocks”… but on the whole, I thought the commercials were pretty lame.
Oh well. At least spring training starts in 8 days – GO CUBS!
