JLP’s Weekly Roundup XL

By JLP | February 5, 2007

Well, after a long weekend filled with 1,200+ miles of driving, it is time to get back in the grind. Since I was on the road Friday I didn’t get my weekly roudup done. So, here it is today:

First off, I want to say thanks to both The New York Times and U.S. News & World Report for mentioning AllFinancialMatters. It’s always nice to get some press coverage.

Now for the roundup:

Keeping Your Business and Home Life Separate – I have problems with this.

Little Splurges Add Up – Yep, they sure do. Just like saving small amounts of money add up.

Should you Pay Off Credit Cards With Home Equity? – My answer: it depends!

How to Calculate Tithe – The calculation itself is easy, but WHAT do you calculate it on?

Are Americans Spending $1.01 For Every $1.00 They Bring In? – It wouldn’t surprise me if they were. And now here’s Jonathan’s thoughts.

FINALLY!… The EPA is Making Fuel Economy Stickers More Realistic – I never understood why these estimates didn’t reflect reality.

Frugality and Ethics – With everything, some people will go to extremes.

How to Save 50% on Your Cell Phone Bill – Fortunately, I don’t use my cell phone all that much. I think I have 250 minutes per month and 1,000 nights and weekends. I NEVER go over and only have to spend about $26 per month.

Mapgirl’s Getting Rid of Her Books – I have lots of books I need to get rid of. I thought about slapping some “AllFinancialMatters.com” stickers inside my books and donating them to the library.

Smarty with Money Management 201

J.D. on The Business of Blogging

The Frugal Duchess has some advice on Avoiding Bank and Credit Card Fees – I pretty much hate fees of any kind.

Dimes to Dollars wants to know What Will You Do With Your Tax Refund? – I’m pretty sure we’re paying in this year. That’s okay, I wanted it that way. I think it is just silly to give Uncle Sam free use of my money throughout the year.

Are Mail-In Rebates Worth the Hassle? – I don’t like rebates but I usually send them in if I buy a product with one.

Womens Wall Street Club Blog takes a look at the National Retirement Risk Survey.

Single Ma follows up on her Millionaire Recipe Series.

There’s lots of stuff to read. Enjoy!

Wow, $26 a month for a cell phone bill. That’s pretty good compared to many people. Thanks for the mention and congrats on the great press!
