Great! ConAgra Recalls Peter Pan Peanut Butter Due to Salmonella!
By JLP | February 15, 2007
I saw this on The Consumerist.
ConAgra has recalled Peter Pan Peanut Butter due to Salmonella. The affected jars have a code on the lid that starts with “2111.” We NEVER bought Peter Pan until a couple of weeks ago. Guess what: our jar has that code on it and we have eaten about 1/3 of the peanut butter in the jar. Geez…
If you have a jar with the code on the lid, you can send in the LID to get a refund (hopefully it is cash so I can buy Jif instead. LOL!). Send your lid to:
Stuff like this is why you should read The Consumerist every day!

You can also take the jar back to WalMart if you bought the Great Value or Peter Pan brand. I called my local Wally and they said they will be taking the jars back so I am heading there tonight.

Hope you are OK buddy.
On another note, how the heck does peanut better get laced with “Salmonella”?

Hope you are ok. It is interesting that the Great Value and Peter Pan are apparently from the same batch. I wonder if this means that when you buy Peter Pan peanut butter you’re just paying extra for Great Value peanut butter with a Peter Pan label.

Do salmon fret about getting chickenella?

I actually saw this news story when I was messing around with the news channel on my wii that may answer some of the comment questions.
The article seemed to indicate that the salmonella wasn’t a result of the peanut butter’s treatment, but rather potentially dirty equipment / the jars themselves getting it on there.
Also, it said that there was just 1 plant that did the Peter Pan peanut butter, but it sounded like there were multiple plants that did the Great Value – so I assume Walmart has deals with multiple manufacturers?
I could be wrong, at work right now so can’t exactly look up the article that I could be misremembering

Yeah, we are Jiffies. But for some reason my uncle purchased Peter Pan recently. And guess what was on the lid?
I don’t eat much PB, but I had a craving for it and had 2 sammiches and 1 spoon of it the week before this came out.
No sickies here! Thank goodness!

in our place some vegetables have been contaminated with Salmonella. the local health office have been able to react quickly and have those contaminated vegetables taken off immediately from the shelves. at least 20 people have suffered from Salmonella here.
