Florida Gators

By JLP | April 3, 2007

Congrats to the Florida Gators in winning the National Championship. I just have one question:

If Florida beat Ohio State and Kansas beat Florida, does that make Kansas the National Champion?

LOL!

The maths geek in me just has to say

“No because winning games is not a transitive relation.”

    FYI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitive_relation

Ah, the transitive property. I’m afraid it fails in sports. I have seen examples of the transitive property at work showing that can make a small Div III school the College Football National Champs.

Sure is a good time for Florida fans.

Oral Roberts beat Kansas, so the Golden Eagles must be the champs.

But did Oral Roberts beat Florida?

Heh, I live only 25 minutes away from the University of Florida, so it is a fun time right now.

And no, we’re the champions, not Kansas. ;)
