I once had a guy tell me in an interview:

1. I can take someone who works hard but isn't smart.
2. The best is someone who is smart AND works hard.
3. Someone who is smart but doesn't want to work is the most useless and shameful things to me.

I never forget that.

Emulate Jay Leno? Are you kidding? Leno has never been funny, nor is he a man of the people. That jay walking shtick he does is all about making stupid people look stupid on tv. What a mensch! He makes me cringe. This is a guy who thinks it's entertaining for the proles when he shows off his vast car collection. Yeah, he's just like the fella next door.

At first I was gonna comment and say number (1) and (2) are my favorite but come to think of it, they're all excellent points!!! (Whether you're a Jay Leno fan or not)

But I will say that pushing your comfort zone will allow you to find your voice in the medium of blogging...in fact, it's applicable in all that we do.

Every so often, I check out Steve Rubel’s Micro Persuasion. The other day he posted a piece titled How to Become an Online Celebrity by Emulating Jay Leno. Steve’s points: 1) Be incredibly focused on delivering a quality product 2) Talent is never enough. It takes a champion work ethic and passion to succeed 3) Be a man or woman of the people 4) Have something to sell, but also let others sell on your stage [...]

I don't know, it's been years since I've laughed while watching Jay Leno. Is that show supposed to pass for quality product? I don't know, just my opinion... and no, I don't think Letterman's any better. :-)
