Presto was the very first Rush I ever bought. I bought the cassette back when it first came out in 89 and then I replaced it with a CD last year. Presto is great and Roll the Bones is really good too.

Like you, I don’t care for 2112. Everything after that seems to be pretty good.

Yeah Rush is a bit out there — so are you into older Rush or Newer Rush? I like Presto and Roll The Bones way more than 2112.

You and I have talked 80s music before, so I suppose you’d find it no surprise that I’ve somewhat fallen into the GH thing too, now. My 5yo daughter likes to watch me play and make a fool of myself; for my part, it really is fun. Until my 37yo fingers start to hurt, at least.

About kids ‘n’ music: It still freaks me out when I hear her pseudo-singing along with J. Geils Band’s “Centerfold.” Not sure I’ll ever get used to that.

I’ve played (real) drums for 15+ years, and I kept “failing” the drum parts of Rock Band when playing my nephew’s game at Christmas. Of course, that’s a tremendous blow to my rock-and-roll ego!

Seriously, I hope that Rock Band/Guitar Hero will inspire kids to take up “real” musical instruments, but they’ll have to realize that the real thing takes a heck of lot more work than a game.

They bought Rock Band for Playstation 2 a couple of weeks ago. I’m amazed at how fast they catch on. I tried playing drums and I stunk!

I cast my vote for Rock Band, too, alongside Amanda. So your boys don’t like Rush or Supertramp… perhaps they don’t like guys who sound like girls when they sing.

That’s excellent that the game inspired them to get real guitar lessons. Perhaps we need an “Orchestra Hero” game, too.

I recently played the game “Rock Band”, which is like Guitar Hero except that you get instruments for the drums, bass and lead singer too! It’s addictive!
