Ben Stein: Take the Bait, Ruin Your Investing Life
By JLP | February 19, 2008
Here’s some tips from Ben Stein on how to ruin your investing life. My favorite:
6. Trust that you can get back in before the next big move upward.
I bet all of us know at least one person who thinks they can time the market (it might even be you). I’m here to tell you that if you are a long-term investor with a solid asset allocation plan, YOU DON’T HAVE TO TRY TO TIME THE MARKET! Instead, all you have to tell yourself is, “This stuff is going to happen. The market cannot consistently move in an upward direction.”
In addition, read these two posts:

Anyway, I thought that was a good article from Ben. I give Ben a hard time for promoting NAVA but this was a great article.

Ben Stein is a pretty smart guy. He’s not just a funny teacher in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or a game show host.
