I am in insurance. Every day I thank God for my wonderful life no matter how difficult my day, or bad the weather, lost money in the market, had a flat tire or whatever comes my way. I have known clients that were fine one minute, and seriously devistated 10 minutes later, and their lives and those of their families forever changed negatively. Good example, check out Nick Vujicic, born with no legs and arms and how well he is doing, or Shank vs. Wal Mart and thank God that is not any of us. Celebrate what we have, try to achieve more and give back to help others. I feel blessed every day. It is a matter of perception perhaps?

This is a good idea, I've never heard of it referred to as "thanksliving" though. I'm very sorry about your dad, I'm sure he'd be proud of you for making a change like this in your life.
