Help Me Help A Friend
By JLP | April 16, 2008
I always promised myself that I would use this blog to help my friends if an opportunity presented itself. Well, an opportunity presented itself this afternoon when I received the following email from a friend:
I’m taking an amazing journey and I’d like you to support me. Thousands of women and men are going to walk 60 miles over the course of three days to raise money for breast cancer research and community outreach through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.
I’ve joined Team Belle Amite, which means Beautiful Friendship, in support of Delores Webster a survivor of breast cancer and my step-grandmother. Together, my team is planning on raising at least $20,000 to help end breast cancer forever. Personally, I am going to raise $2,200 of that, so I need your help.
Because every woman is at risk for breast cancer – a disease that strikes at random and for which the causes and cures are still unknown – I know that every moment counts. Without a cure, an estimated 25 million women around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer – and 10 million could die – over the next 25 years.
Please follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising webpage and make a donation. If you donate online, you can spread your donation out over four monthly payments.
Thank you for your support and concern and thank you for your support for my continuing journey.
Love,
Becki StewartP.S. Don’t wait. Please donate today.
So, if you feel led to give a donation to this cause, please visit Becki’s Personal Page and make a donation. Anonymous donations are accepted.

I wish all of your readers would read The China Study; it should be a required financial planning tool. Breast cancer is not random and it’s cause and cure are known in many cases. A recent study claims a couple retiring in 2040 will need $500,000 just for their medical expenses. This book costs $17 on amazon and will pay for itself very quickly.

My wife did this walk a couple of years ago … we raised a lot of money for this outstanding cause, and it was wholly inspiring experience for my wife … and, for me: I got a whole weekend OFF
Good luck with the walk and the donation target!

I work as a research scientist at North Carolina’s Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center studying the genetics of breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen Foundation is a great partner in our research to find better more individualized treatments with less toxicity and improved long term survival.
