Anyone Else Have a Broken RockBand Drum Pedal?
By JLP | May 7, 2008
My son was playing the drums on RockBand for Playstation 2 the other day when he heard a crack. He didn’t think much of it and kept playing until the drum pedal fell apart. The break appears to have due to stress as there is a spring located just under where the break took place.
I went on the RockBand website and found out how to get a replacement. Electronic Arts is handling support for all the replacement parts.
They have two options for getting a replacement part:
1. You can give them your credit card information and they will send you a replacement part along with a postage-paid envelope so that you can send them the broken part. If they don’t receive the broken part within 28 days, they will charge $125 to your credit card.
2. You can have them send you a postage-paid envelope first, you send them the broken part and they will send you a replacement as soon as they receive the broken piece.
Not wanting to give out my credit card information, I went with the second option. It will take a little longer but it will just make the game feel “new” again to my boys once it’s all back together. LOL!
I’ll let you know how it works out. We’ll see if this post gets re-labeled as a “Rant” post.

Mine broke too. It was a pain with the first option so I would definitely recommend the second option.

I’ve been playing mine recently and it’s been kindof weird.. I think it might be breaking like what happened to your sons. Thanks for the heads up and the support options!

I’m on my 3rd pedal and my 3rd set of drum pads (cracked yellow pad both times) is on the way.
First pedal replacement I did express with a one-time use virtual credit card number.
Second pedal replacement I did standard and it turned out to be just as fast as express, since they just sent the pedal out rather than sending an empty box.
The virtual credit card numbers are very handy for this type of thing though.
Great warranty for a great game.

Wow, I didn’t even think to check with EA about a replacement pedal. Ours broke about a month ago, but I began looking on eBay for a more sturdy replacement. A lot of people are making the pedals out of wood or metal so that they won’t break again.
I guess I could just send in the broken one and get a replacement for now. I’m far too preoccupied with GTA IV to play rock band right now anyway.

er - rock band isn’t available for ps2, i’m assuming you meant ps3
and i haven’t had problems w/ the CC method, and i’ve done it once for the guitar and once for the drums already

Will,
Although it’s hard to find, there is a RockBand for PS2
(Affiliate Link). My boys have it.

Get a steel plate from eBay that fits the pedal and drill it in with screws. It will make it the last pedal you have to exchange. I’ve even had to replace one pedal with the screw holes in it (temp fix for a broken pedal) and they replaced it free of charge.
