Happy Birthday, Dad

Today would have been my dad’s 62nd birthday.
It’s been over 5 months (August 2nd marked the 5-month anniversary of his death) and I STILL have a hard time believing he’s really gone.
I found out a while back that my brother-in-law recorded the tributes that my sister, brother, and I did at dad’s funeral. I’ll see if he can put it up on YouTube for sharing. We had lots of people come up to us after the funeral and tell us that they really appreciated the tributes and that it helped them get to know my dad a little better.

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my own dad, at age 82, back in 2004 and I have to admit that I still haven’t gotten over it. I love your idea of posting the tributes.

My dad would have been sixty this year. It’s been 8 years now. The big ache is gone, but I still miss him every day. It does get easier. I am sorry for your loss.

I feel ya, mine died two days before his 51st birthday … but he lives on in the eyes and actions of my son …

I am so very sorry for your loss, and the video tribute is such a beautiful idea. What a great way to share the life of someone you love with others.
I’m watching my mom age, and suddenly I can see it coming really fast. I worry about her, and know that when she goes, it will forever alter my life. I dread the pain of her loss.

I don’t believe we ever fully get over the loss of someone who has been important in our lives. But when I’m at my best, I know that the spirit of my father is within me.

This touched me. My own dad is here, but ill. Thanks for reminding me that even if August 6th isn’t his birthday, it’s a fine day to call and get to talk to him.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Fathers (and mothers) are such special people in our lives, and, thank you for helping to remind me of that. I can’t imagine not having my dad or mom, so please know that my thoughts go out to you.
