Would Anyone Like to Join Me in a Study of the ‘Law of Success’?

By JLP | September 2, 2008

I have been kicking around the idea of doing a community study of Napoleon Hill’s Law of Success*, which is a mammoth book covering the following 17 lessons:

1. Introduction to the Master Mind - October 6, 2008 Host: AllFinancialMatters

2. A Definite Chief Aim - October 13, 2008

3. Self-Confidence - October 20, 2008

4. The Habit of Saving - October 27, 2008

5. Initiative and Leadership - November 3, 2008

6. Imagination - November 10, 2008

7. Enthusiasm - November 17, 2008

8. Self-Control - November 24, 2008

9. The Habit of Doing More Than Paid For - December 1, 2008 Host: AllFinancialMatters

10. A Pleasing Personality - December 8, 2008

11. Accurate Thinking - December 15, 2008

12. Concentration - December 22, 2008

13. Cooperation - December 29, 2008

14. Profiting by Failure - January 5, 2009

15. Tolerance - January 12, 2009

16. The Golden Rule - January 19, 2009

17. The Universal Law of Cosmic Habitforce - January 26, 2009

I thought it would be cool to cover one lesson each Monday (beginning with the first Monday of October) for seventeen weeks. That would take us all the way to January 26, 2009.

In order to truly make this a “community” effort, I thought it would be cool to enlist various bloggers to “host” a chapter each week. I will send out an email invitation to fifteen bloggers. Once I get a response from them, I will open up any remaining slots to other bloggers. One way to get more blogger participation would be to allow other bloggers to write on each week’s topic, which could then be linked to from that week’s host blog (at their discretion of course).

Why the Law of Success?

I think it is a great starting point to personal finance. I think every high school graduate should have a firm understanding of what success is and how to achieve it. I think we spend too much time as a nation trying to help people out of their mistakes rather than preparing them NOT to make mistakes in the first place.

Interested?

If you’re interested in taking part of this study, the first thing you need to do leave a comment to let me know of your interest. I don’t want to waste my time on this if there’s no reader interest. The second thing you need to do is get a book. You can order one through Amazon using this link (if you buy via my link, I will receive a commission from Amazon). The book retails for $29.71 on Amazon with free shipping. I chose this edition because it’s been updated for the 21st Century, which makes it a little easier to read.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to this. I have never done anything quite like this before so it should be a lot of fun.
