They called again today and I told them I would have to find my credit card, whereupon they hung up on me. Maybe a lot of people are now doing this to them, so they hang up if you don't have your card.

You do have to tell them you have something like $15K in debt and an interest rate of 19 percent or so to string them along even far enough to ask for your credit card information.

Next step: give them a randomly-generated series of numbers to get them to waste time trying to process it? The idea is to let them waste their time while you do other work.

If you call a number that you know is disconnected and record the three tone automated answer, you can play this back for any automated dialing system. It will automatically remove your number from their dialing list and no human on their end can keep it from deleting your number.

I've been adding each number to my call blocking list... so far, there are 9 different numbers from "Cardholders Services" that are being blocked. I had 3 calls today from 3 different numbers.

They must score with some folks or else they wouldn't be going thru the expense of hiring staff and expensive computer phoning equipment.

Our wonderful FCC and FTC are too busy chasing rainbows to handle this scam.

I've been getting these calls for a couple of years..I either don't answer the phone or sometimes I hit #1 to have person talk the phone number off their list but today I way in a bad mood so I told them they had reached a monitored phone and that I was in jail and needed them to make a call for me as I only had one call I could make...the lady hesitated then said Oh, I'm sorry I can't do that as I pleaded with her...then she hung up.

I've gotten 2 calls today. I've decide to blow the whistle on them, literally. I'm going to keep a coach's whistle by each phone and when they call, I'll press 1. When it's answered, I'm blowing the whistle. My guess is that if we all did this, the calls would stop.

Unfortunately the Do Not Call Registry has no ability for prosecution- they only document info for any agency themselves deciding to prosecute. I have been reporting Rachel at least twice a month for a couple years now. I think the "bug your congressman" idea Jerry suggested is the best idea. Or if anyone like a disgruntled former employee would publish their phone numbers, address, website, then maybe things might get really interesting. At least we'd have an actual entity to file police complaints against. Might be pretty funny if some twerp hacker started giving them a dose of their own medicine too! ;-)

Sorry to bring you this news. You are wasting your time trying to punish the caller. Punish your congress person with calls and tons of e-mail. That's how we can get the "DO NOT CALL" list to work. MAY RACHEL LIVE ON A DIET OF THORNY CACTUS AND RAZOR BLADES.

I had a very instructive conversation with them today. I pretended to look for my credit card but left them on speakerphone, and I could overhear the background conversation. A very rude and pushy individual was telling somebody something about a $690 fee to be applied to a credit card. This may be their scam. On the other hand, law enforcement could probably trace them through the bank through which this fee is processed if they try to collect it, so maybe their real agenda is to steal credit card numbers.

I just tried this number 1-888-583-1956 and someone answered "Account Services". The company is set up as Ambrosia Web Design, supposedly owned by Chris Ambrosia of Mesa, AZ.

Everyone who gets this, call the FTC.

1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357)

Choose to file a complaint, the more complaints they get, the quicker they can prosecute these jerks. Give details on their (a) faking Caller ID signals, (b) phishing behavior, (c) ignoring requests to remove your number from their call system, and (d) ignoring the Federal Do Not Call List.

I would have you refer to the complaint I filed but the FTC guy said it is better for MULTIPLE complaints to be submitted.
