Best Buy is more warm and inviting. Circuit City never understood that the design, layout of stores along with the pricing of merchandise matters to consumers.

About Best Buy/ CC and others...part of it is the manufacturers who take advantage of folks too.

Best Buy sells (I couldn't make this up if I wanted to) a TOSLINK(S/PDIF) optical audio cable that has gold plated connectors.

Think about that for a second (if you don't know anything about optical audio, it is a piece of plastic known as 'fiber optics' that doesn't require any metal connection what so ever)...gold plated. Cost? $30. Actual cost of real TOSLINK cables? $0.01 at basically any cable store.

Do you know if they are going to have some going out of business sales? I would love to take advantage of last minute deals.

I remember when they came out with this Divx format. I thought that was the worst idea every and well, so did everyone else. They lost $114 million just on that mistake alone.

Best Buy will be the next one to go. They are just as bad if not worse the CC. They pull bait and switch crap all the time, try to sell people expensive unnecessary cables, etc... Whenever I see that going on, I always tell the customers not to buy them. I have been asked to leave a few times, but I can't stand to see people who don't know anything about electronics being taken advantage of. Best Buy has been in trouble with Attorney General's offices of many states. They will be next for sure if they keep up the shady business practices. I don't buy anything from them anymore, I go there to look at the products then buy them online for cheaper.

Couldn't be they didn't know how to run their business. There were several times I ordered items online for in-store delivery. They have(had) a guarantee that it will be ready within 23 minutes or you get $23 back. EVERY time I ordered online they could not meet the 23 minute deadline. Saved me a lot of money. The people at our local store did not know what they were doing.
