This is For All You Quarter Collectors Out There…
By JLP | September 11, 2009
For those of you who collected the 50 State Quarters the U.S. Mint finished producing lately, there’s a new line of quarters in the works. This time they will focus on “America the Beautiful,” with each quarter featuring national treasures like Yellow Stone National Park, and Hot Springs National Park and will be issued in the order that they were approved by congress.
You can read more about it here and here.

How much do these new quarters cost to design and produce? I don’t really see the point for anyone who isn’t a coin collector.

@Jason
I’m not sure about the design costs, but they cost a lot less than a quarter to actually produce (on a per unit basis). Thus, the treasury makes a lot of money by selling them to collectors at $.25 each who save them and essentially remove them from circulation.

I probably won’t be collecting them. Oh, and by the way – Yellowstone is one word. Take it from a Wyoming boy.

I knew better than that, Sam. I’ll fix it when I’m at my computer.
