It’s probably because Democrats actually believe the propaganda they receive in the form of “news”, as shown by this Gallup poll:

Trust in the media among Democrats has risen, while Republicans and Indepents have grown less trusting….
I guess you could say, Republicans and Independents live in Realville, where Democrats don’t know any better.

I suppose another way to ask it is:
Why are Republicans so pessimistic?

My guesses – 1) Many do not understand money and business principles, and 2) Democrats are more positive in general.
Why are Republicans so pessimistic? Maybe they feel helpless in light of the mood of the country, and because they are in a serious downward spiral.

Because of the President’s political party. Left leaning shows (watched by Democrates) tout the great accomplishments of the President and report most things as better or getting better. while the right leaning shows would do the opposite.
Things would be reversed if the President was a Republican. Right leaning news shows (wathed by Republicans) would tout the great accomplishments of the President and report most things as better or getting better. while the left leaning shows would do the opposite.
It’s just behaviorial bias at its best. A good example is the TSA. It was patriotic to support tougher screening at the airport under Bush accord to Republicans. Dems bashed it. Now that Obama is in office it’s the opposite.

Democrats optimism is directly correlated to Obama’s odds are for being reelected.
Republicans are the inverse.

Democrats are more optimistic because Obama’s chances of being reelected are looking better.

He went on to add: “In our experience, Callista and I both believe CNN is less biased than Fox this year. We are more likely to get neutral coverage out of CNN than we are of Fox, and we’re more likely to get distortion out of Fox. That’s just a fact.”

Whatever the cause, I think it’s important that Democrats not take this election for granted. It’s essential that they get out and vote on November 7th !

Har har — typical Repugnicant trick. Nov 6th (tuesday, always tuesday) is the date of the election.
