No way, Jose! There are enough poverty programs as is, such as section 8/housing assistance, food stamps, and medicaid, which ARE (rightfully) means-tested.
Reforms for SS should be done with the idea of eliminating/winding down the program (and especially the TAX), not broadening the SS program further.

I’m with BG — end the program.
Just allow seniors to take money directly from their children and grandchildren (which is what they are doing anyway), and cut out the wasteful government bureaucracy.
