Allan Roth of <a href="http://daretobedull.com"target="_blank"target="_blank">Dare to be Dull sent me a link to an <a href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/ibd/20060724/bs_ibd_ibd/2006724etf"target="_blank">article about Vanguard possibly offering exchange-traded funds for bonds. Allan was quoted in the article, which I think is really cool. Anyway, Vanguard is either dropping or has already dropped the “Vipers” name for their ETFs. Now they are simply called Vanguard ETFs. According to the article, Allan believes we will be seeing Vanguard Bond ETFs within the next six months or so.

While I’m on the topic of media mentions, I have to congratulate my fellow network buddy, FMF. He was mentioned in this week’s Barron’s. Here’s what Barron’s had to say:

<a href="http://freemoneyfinance.com"target="_blank">FREEMONEYFINANCE is our kind of blog. The blogmaster, a marketing professional, posts several times daily and highlights plenty of outside content. Not all commentary is market-related, but there’s usually a personal-finance angle (a recent post evaluated the pros and cons of driving slower to save money on gas). The blogmaster offers a constant stream of original and linked money-making tips, plus helpful ideas about credit cards, insurance, real estate, taxes and retirement. Well done.

I didn’t realize that FMF is a “Blogmaster.” Now I have visions of him in a long robe, sitting on the floor Indian-style, with lots of pupils gathered around listening to him speak blog. LOL!

I think this will be better for everybody. It also should give the BotW selection a wider audience and more traffic.

I usually put these out on Friday but yesterday I was busy with my boys so I put this off until today. Anway, here’s some highlights from the MoneyBlogNetwork and beyond:

MightyBargainHunter <a href="http://www.mightybargainhunter.com/2006/04/14/whats-all-the-hyip-about/"target="_blank">goes to great lengths to answer a question I had regarding HYIPs. Don’t know what HYIP stands for? Read his post to find out.

Jim at Blueprint highlights <a href="http://www.bargaineering.com/articles/turning-3k-into-210k-via-investing.html"target="_blank">a tale of a woman who turned $3,000 into $210,000! It’s true. The only problem is that her $210,000 was paper gains and once the stock peaked, she rode it back down again. Read the story and you’ll see what I mean.

Flexo <a href="http://www.consumerismcommentary.com/2006/04/12/today-was-my-last-day/"target="_blank">had his last day in his current job. Although he won’t be leaving his company, he will be changing locations which is kind of like starting over again. At least the new job will be closer to his home.

FMF wants you to <a href="http://www.freemoneyfinance.com/2006/04/money_saving_ti_7.html#comments"target="_blank">quit your bad habits and invest the difference.

Nickel <a href="http://www.fivecentnickel.com/2006/04/14/help-us-choose-a-mover/#comments"target="_blank">needs help finding a reputable mover as he has recently sold his home and bought another.

Michael at It’s Your Money writes <a href="http://www.mdmproofing.com/iym/weblog/2006/04/who-cares-what-broke-people-think.html"target="_blank">Who Cares What Broke People Think. I don’t agree with Dave Ramsey’s advice but the story is still kind of cool.

Here’s someone who actually <a href="http://www.makelovenotdebt.com/2006/04/i_heart_paying_taxes.php"target="_blank">loves paying taxes! Maybe someday I’ll write why I HATE paying taxes.

Jonathan at MyMoneyBlog explains <a href="http://www.mymoneyblog.com/archives/2006/04/scottrade_broke_1.html"target="_blank">why he went with Scottrade as his broker.

Finally, last but not least, Cap over at StopBuyingCrap talks about <a href="http://www.stopbuyingcrap.com/2006/04/13/giving-money-to-beggars/"target="_blank">giving money to beggars.

We are now well into the second quarter of the year. Time is flying by. I’m a little nervous because hurricane season is something like 60 days away! Anyway, there’s a lot going on in the MoneyBlogNetwork and beyond so let’s get started:

MightyBargainHunter asks <a href="http://www.mightybargainhunter.com/2006/04/04/whats-costing-you-your-retirement/"target="_blank">What’s Costing You Your Retirement? The little things we buy ourselves can really add up and could be costing us a secure retirement. That’s something to think about.

Nickel, who is in the process of moving his family to another town, has been blogging a lot lately about his moving experience. This time he talks about <a href="http://www.fivecentnickel.com/2006/04/03/finding-a-mortgage/"target="_blank">Finding a Mortgage.

FMF reviews Instapundit’s book, <a href="http://www.freemoneyfinance.com/2006/04/review_an_army_.html#comments"target="_blank">An Army of Davids.

Flexo blogs about how he <a href="http://www.consumerismcommentary.com/2006/04/06/changed-my-401k-allocation/"target="_blank">changed his 401(k) allocation.

Finally, Jim talks about the <a href="http://www.bargaineering.com/articles/kbbs-ten-coolest-cars-under-18k.html"target="_blank">Ten Coolest Cars Under $18,000. Hint: there’s not a lot to choose from! I find it hard to believe that the Toyota Tacoma made the list.

Out of Network:

TheBudgetingBabe talks about <a href="http://budgetingbabe.blogspot.com/2006/04/turning-down-job.html"target="_blank">Turning Down a Job.

Chrees has an interesting post called <a href="http://chreesworld.blogspot.com/2006/04/defining-your-financial-self.html"target="_blank">Defining Your Financial “Self.”

Finally, ELYM has found <a href="http://www.everybodylovesyourmoney.com/?p=233"target="_blank">something very special that I think you should see. I’m glad he found it and linked to it.

There’s lots more great stuff out there but you’ll have to find them yourself. Right now, I have other things to do.
