Blog of the Week – Your Money Relationship

This week’s Blog of the Week (I didn’t post a Blog of the Week last week) goes to Your Money Relationship.

I became aware of this blog only recently but I like what I have read so far and I think you will too.

For those of you interested in selling stuff on eBay, you’ll want to check out his eBay post.

NOTE: If you have a blog that you would like to be considered for Blog of the Week, send me an email. Please be sure to put “Blog of the Week” in the subject line. I’ll be happy to consider any nominations.

The ‘Blog of the Week’ is Back

This is the first Monday of 2009. One of the changes I’m making to AllFinancialMatters in 2009 is to bring back the ‘Blog of the Week’ (BotW) feature. As far as I know, this blog was the only personal finance blog to have such a feature. I had gotten away from the BotW because I grew tired of it and felt it was time for a change.

Now it’s back. Why? For a few reasons:

1. There are a lot of new blogs out there to choose from.

2. The BotW is a way for AllFinancialMatters to differentiate itself from the other blogs.

3. The BotW is a way for me to point out other blogs that AFM readers may find worth reading.

Each Monday will feature a new BotW. The selection will get its own spot in the upper right hand corner of this blog.

So, this week’s Blog of the Week is:

Fixing the 401(k) (, which is run by Joshua Itzoe, a CFP and fiduciary expert (as well as a fee-only financial planner). The blog is written for retirement plan fiduciaries but the content is applicable to anyone planning for retirement. I think it is worth checking out.

NOTE: If you have a blog that you think would be a good candidate for Blog of the Week, send me an email (JLP – at – with “Blog of the Week” Suggestion in the subject line. I’ll be happy to consider any suggestions.

I’m Bringing Back the Blog of the Week!

Beginning January 5, 2009, I am bringing back the Blog of the Week feature.

Each week’s BotW will be featured in the upper right hand corner of this blog. I will also try to write up a feature post about each week’s selection (we’ll see about that one).

Anyway, this will be my way of trying to reach out to other bloggers. I have been way too stingy the last couple of years and have gotten away from some of the things that I used to like about this blog.

If you have a PERSONAL FINANCE or INVESTING blog that you would like to nominate for Blog of the Week, please send me and email with “Blog of the Week Suggestion” in the subject line. You can send your email to JLP – at –

I have a feeling 2009 is going to be the best year ever for AllFinancialMatters!

Blog of the Week – No. 74

The first EVER Blog of the Week with pictures!

Meet Basil and Bianca Bizarro:

Basil Bizarro

Bianca Bizarro

Handsome couple, eh?

I found their blog, The Bizarro World Debt Elimination Freakshow last week when Basil left a comment about his garage sale experience. It cracked me up so I decided to check out his blog. This is some great stuff! I love the honesty of this blog (even though they are blogging anonymously). They had over $33,000 in credit card debt and now it is down to $19,000. Their blog is their tale about paying off the rest.

Blog of the Week – No. 73

It is hard to believe that it has been well over a month since I last featured a Blog of the Week! I have to say I got a little burned out and the Blog of the Week became a burden. Anyway, I’m building up a small list of Blog of the Week candidates and hope to get back to regular features soon.

The 73rd Blog of the Week on AllFinancialMatters goes to Debt Blitzkrieg, a blog essentially about making war on debt. The blog’s author doesn’t like debt. I don’t blame her because debt can be a scary thing – especially if you get in over your head. I would feel the same way if I owed $191,000 in student loans!

Anyway, her blog is about her journey to getting out of debt. I encourage you to encourage her.

I’m Running Out of Blog of the Week Candidates!

It’s getting more and more difficult for me to find Blog of the Week candidates! I normally try to “stock up” on ideas but I haven’t come up with any ideas lately. If you’re a blogger and you have come across a blog that you think is Blog of the Week material, please send me an email (my email address is located at the top left-hand side of this blog) with the “Blog of the Week Candidate” in the subject line and let me know about it. Tell me the name and url of YOUR blog as well as the name and URL of the blog you are submitting. If I use your suggestion, I’ll give you and your blog credit.

PLEASE resist the urge to promote your own blog!
